Founded in Athens in 1895 by Efthimios Zolotas, at the foot of the Acropolis, following his training in Parisian workshops, the house of Zolotas became the jeweller of the Greek elite and in 1910 created jewels for the Greek royal family to wear at the coronation of King George V. Under Xenophon Zolotas, the founder's son, it collaborated from the early 1960s with the Greek archaeological museums to reinterpret the motifs of antiquity: lions, rams, meanders and laurel leaves became the signature of its designs.
