1041 - Three saints with the Paschal Lamb, Spanish School, 16th Century

Three saints with the Paschal Lamb, Spanish School, 16th Century Oil on panel. Dimensions: 76 x 74 cm. This devotional painting depicts three male saints contemplating the Agnus Dei, symbol of the sacrificed Christ. One of them carries the chalice with the serpent, possibly alluding to Saint John the Evangelist. The scene, rich in symbolism, unfolds against a green background and a cloudy sky, in a primitive style. The figures display archaic features and intense expressions, characteristic of the expressive language of 16th-century Spain.
