1035 - Saint Joan of Arc - French Renaissance carving from the late 16th century

Saint Joan of Arc - French Renaissance carving from the late 16th century Carved wood. Dimensions: 80 x 31 x 16 cm. Standing male sculpture of a warrior saint, wearing carved armor and holding a sword across his chest. The carving, with its smooth and austere surface, reflects the Castilian tradition of the early Baroque period, combining devotional solemnity with serene gestures. The formal austerity suggests a monastic origin, intended for worship or moral instruction. The wood retains its original patina and slight traces of polychromy in the raised areas. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer's statutory rights.
