754 - Portrait of a lady, attributed to Raimundo de Madrazo, Spanish School, 19th Century

Portrait of a lady, attributed to Raimundo de Madrazo, Spanish School, 19th Century Oil on panel. Dimensions 44 x 16.5 / 30 x 32 cm. Small bust portrait of a woman, her figure silhouetted against a dark background and dressed in black with a light ruff, in an image of great sobriety and refinement. The composition gives prominence to the face, with its direct and serene gaze, and to the elegant treatment of the hairstyle and clothing. The brushwork is fluid and delicate, with particular attention to the nuances of the flesh tones and the luminous vibrancy of the white touches. The overall effect is reminiscent of late 19th-century Spanish portraiture, reflecting a cosmopolitan, distinguished style and a loose execution.
