Durante la Restauración (1814-1830), la Guardia Nacional a caballo constituía una milicia ciudadana de élite encargada de garantizar el orden urbano y la escolta de honor del rey. Su casco se distingue por una copa metálica adornada con una banda con atributos cívicos o reales, coronada por un voluminoso penacho con borla de crin negra.
