Desconocido. San Francisco de Paula. Óleo sobre lienzo. Probablemente siglo XIX. Lienzo: 98,5 x 81,5 cm. Enmarcado: 126 x 109,5 cm. Francisco de Paula (1416-1507), fundador de la Orden Paulina (Ordo Minimorium o Minimites), canonizado, taumaturgo, asceta, ermitaño y patrón de los marineros. El escudo y lema de su orden era "Caritas". Francisco de Paula se vuelve hacia esta palabra en el cuadro, mirando piadosa e implorante hacia el cielo. Sostiene el cayado de pastor en el brazo. La presente obra es muy similar a otra pintura del fundador de la orden, realizada probablemente en el siglo XVII, que se conserva en el Wadham College de la Universidad de Oxford. Probablemente procede de la escuela española. - Lienzo reentelado y repintado, fuerte craquelado y algunos roces superficiales, así como retoques visibles, algunos roces fuertes y pérdida de color en los márgenes, el bastidor de madera oscura parcialmente golpeado. - Debido a su tamaño, el transporte debe ser organizado por el comprador.
