1316 - FRANCO ALBINI (Robbiate, 1905 – Milan, 1977) for Poggi – Sideboard MB15 (1957)

FRANCO ALBINI (Robbiate, 1905 – Milan, 1977) for Poggi – Sideboard MB15 (1957) Solid walnut. Dimensions: 77 × 183 × 47 cm. Exceptional MB15 sideboard, designed in 1957 by Franco Albini for the historic Italian firm Poggi, one of the most representative pieces of postwar Italian rationalist design. Made of carefully selected solid walnut, it stands out for the extraordinary quality of its natural grain and the purity of its lines, reflecting the elegant and functional style that made Albini one of the key figures in 20th-century Italian design. The cabinet features three doors with integrated handles, dividing the interior into two compartments with shelves and a third compartment equipped with three removable trays—a solution that combines meticulous functionality with a refined aesthetic sense. The characteristic sculptural wooden legs and the absence of superfluous elements reflect the principles of neo-rationalism, a movement of which Albini was a leading exponent. Designed for Poggi, one of the most prestigious manufacturers of modern Italian design, the MB15 model is now one of the most highly prized creations among collectors of designer furniture from the 1950s. Its high-quality construction, the finest materials, and the historical significance of its designer make this piece a benchmark of mid-20th-century Italian design. It is presented in a condition commensurate with its age and use. This lot is located in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU.
