Annunciation – Workshop of Juan Correa de Vivar – 16th century Oil on panel with hinged mountings. 88 x 57 cm. 105 x 78 x 11 cm (frame). The Virgin Mary receives the Annunciation from the Archangel Gabriel in an architectural setting. The angel appears before Mary while the divine intervention manifests itself in the upper part of the composition. The scene combines architectural and domestic elements typical of the iconography of the Annunciation. The reverse side reveals the hinged mounting system used on the panel.
