TOMMASO CASCELLA (Rome, 1951) - Untitled (2010) Etching and aquatint on heavy paper. Dimensions: 80 × 60 cm. Plate dimensions: 69 × 49 cm. This abstract print features a composition of intertwined geometric and organic forms, dominated by a chromatic range of intense blues, grays, and earth tones. A central vertical structure with sinuous, elongated profiles traverses the surface, engaging in a dialogue with other curvilinear and angular elements distributed throughout the space. A biomorphic-looking form appears in the upper left, while linear strokes and textured surfaces in the lower section add depth and dynamism. The combination of etching and aquatint results in a remarkable richness of nuances, with rough surfaces and delicate tonal variations that reinforce the textural character of the composition. The work reflects the artistic language of Tommaso Cascella, an Italian artist from a prominent family of painters and sculptors, whose production is characterized by the integration of symbolic elements, architectural structures, and abstract forms with an organic feel. His visual language shows affinities with certain compositions by Joan Miró (1893-1983), due to the use of biomorphic signs and forms with a symbolic appearance, as well as with the work of Alberto Magnelli (1888-1971), due to the articulation of geometric surfaces, chromatic contrasts, and abstract structures of marked compositional solidity.
