Agustín Cárdenas Alfonso (Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba, April 10, 1927 – Havana, Cuba, February 9, 2001) was a Cuban painter and sculptor. Awards: Among the awards and distinctions he received during his career are the Second Prize at the 6th National Salon of Painting and Sculpture, National Capitol Hall, Havana, Cuba, in 1953. In 1955, he was awarded the Silver Medal at the 37th Fine Arts Salon, Fine Arts Circle, Havana, Cuba. In 1976 National Order of Art and Letters, France and the Fujisankey Biennial Prize, Hakone Open Air Museum, Fujisankey, Japan. In 1995 he was named National Prize for Plastic Arts.
