MURANO. “Sea Anemone.” A large sculpture made of polychrome glass, blown and hot-worked. It consists of a flared corolla with a wavy rim, made of pink glass speckled with midnight blue flecks, from which rise long cobalt blue glass tentacles ending in small purplish-pink bulges, resembling a sea anemone. The corolla rests on a short stem of the same shade, set within a cylindrical column of sky-blue opaline glass, topped by a thick base of colorless glass. Red, blue, and yellow glass starfish of varying sizes, rendered in relief, are hot-applied to the shaft. The entire piece rests on a quadrangular base made of translucent, frosted glass or resin. 20th-century work. H_99 cm
