First edition of this study of the most important Palmyrene inscriptions by the great Orientalist Jean-Baptiste Chabot, illustrated with 32 phototypographic plates reproducing Palmyrene inscriptions, reliefs, and busts. Paris, Imprimerie Nationale Histoire/Antiquité, 1922. Quarto (280 x 230 mm), blue half-basane with blue corners, ribbed spine adorned with the title in gold lettering, cover preserved (modern binding). 147 pages, 32 plates of black-and-white photographs as inserts, including 12 fold-outs. Minimal scuffing and marks on the leather. First edition of this collection by the great Orientalist Jean-Baptiste Chabot, which compiles, translates, and annotates the most important Palmyrene inscriptions (Aramaic and Greek-Palmyrene bilingual). It is accompanied by 32 phototypographic plates reproducing Palmyrene inscriptions, reliefs, and busts. A fine copy, complete with its plates in very good condition.
