Pablo PICASSO (1881–1973) & MADOURA Four Intertwined Profiles, 1949. Round/square plate. Red earthenware piece, decorated with black engobe and black-and-white designs on the back. Bears the sunken stamps “Original Imprint by Picasso” and “Madoura Full Fire” on the reverse. Diameter: 25.5 cm. Small chip in the center and another along the edge of the rim on the back. Small spots and minor scuffs. Provenance: Gifted by Suzanne Ramié to her friend Frédérique Duran, an artist, master glassmaker, and founder of the Museum of Glass and Stained Glass in Gordes. Bibliography: Alain Ramié, *Picasso: Catalog of Ceramic Works, 1947–1971*, Paris, 1988; a similar model is reproduced as No. 89 on page 55.
