JAPAN - 20th century Black lacquered Japanese armor, *tôsei gusoku* style, featuring blue lacing cords (*kuro'urushinuri kon'ito nimai'dô tôsei gusoku*). The set discreetly bears an emblem (*mon*) depicting two crossed falcon feathers within a circle (*maru ni chigai taka no ha*). • Helmet (*kabuto*): A *suji'bachi kabuto* (helmet with protruding ridges) composed of 12 plates, topped with a crescent-shaped metal frontal ornament (*maedate*). The neck guard (*shikoro*), consisting of three rows of slats (*itazane*), is flanked by short side fins (*fukikaeshi*) adorned with the same emblem. • Mask (*menpô*): *Ressei-bô* type (meaning “furious”), featuring a removable nose, a gray mustache, gold-lacquered teeth, and a throat guard (*yodarekake*) composed of four rows of slats (*itazane*). • Shoulder guards (*sode*): *ô-sode* type, consisting of seven rows of slats (*itazane*). • Arm guards (*kote*): *Shino-kote* style, consisting of long vertical metal blades connected by chain mail (*kusari*), attached to dark silk fabric adorned with orange plant motifs (scrollwork). • Breastplate (*dô*): *Yokohagi okegawa-dô* style; the front features a filigree emblem of crossed falcon feathers. Six protective panels (*kusazuri*), each composed of five slats (*kiritsuke iyozane*), are suspended from the breastplate. • Sash (*uwa'obi*): Made of brown silk with floral motifs. • Thigh guards (*haidate*): Composed of three rows of six plates (*kurata*) connected by chain mail (*kusari*), mounted on matching silk and edged with smoked leather. • Shin guards (*suneate*): “Shino”-style, consisting of long metal blades linked by chain mail (*kusari*) and attached to a matching silk backing, featuring blue knee guards (*tateage*). The armor comes with a square storage chest (yoroi'bako), lacquered black and equipped with handles for carrying it on a pole.
