195 - Seated Baoulé figure, Ivory Coast.

Seated Baoulé figure, Ivory Coast. A female sculpture with slender proportions, seated on a traditional Akan openwork stool with a circular base. The face, with its delicately stylized features, is crowned by an elaborate hairstyle with striated buns, while the long, ringed neck harmoniously extends the silhouette. Her folded arms, hands drawn toward her breasts, protruding navel, and pearl adornments emphasize the unique character of this depiction. Wood with a lustrous brown-black patina, showing signs of wear and localized abrasions. Height: 45.5 cm
