Small Mwana Pwo female mask with its Chokwé adornments, DR Congo / Angola. Carved wood with a beautiful reddish-brown patina, plant fibers, beads, and metal. A very elegant Mwana Pwo mask with a finely sculpted face, characterized by large, half-closed almond-shaped eyes, a delicate nose, and a slightly parted mouth with finely defined individual teeth. The forehead is adorned with the characteristic incised Chokwé geometric pattern, while the imposing carved headdress extends into a full head of hair made of natural fibers, embellished with beads and large triangular metal pendants. First half of the 20th century. Includes base. Height: 15.5 cm
