Original autographs, cruiser Emden, Richard Foerster, and Walter Lohmann; historical naval collage with cap bands A historically interesting and attractively curated collection of memorabilia related to German naval history, focusing on the famous light cruiser “Emden” of the Imperial German Navy and its naval officers. The elaborately designed collage combines historical depictions of the ship, handwritten autographs, several naval cap ribbons, and philatelic items. Of particular note are the signatures of Captain Richard Foerster and the later Vice Admiral Walter Georg Lohmann. The light cruiser “Emden” was commissioned in 1925 and was the first major warship to be newly built for the German Navy after World War I. The ship became particularly well-known for its worldwide training cruises and its significance in German naval history during the Weimar Republic. - Ship: Light cruiser “Emden” of the German Imperial Navy, commissioned in 1925. - Richard Foerster: Captain and first commander of the cruiser “Emden” from October 15, 1925, to September 23, 1928. - Handwritten autograph clipping with a personal greeting and signature by Richard Foerster. - Walter Georg Lohmann (1891–1955):** German naval officer and later Vice Admiral. - Historical ship postcard of the cruiser “Emden” with a handwritten signature, attributed to Walter Lohmann. - **“Cruiser Emden” cap band: Black textile naval cap band with gold-colored lettering. - **“Kriegsmarine” cap band: Black textile cap band with gold-colored lettering. - **"S.M.S. Emden" cap badge: Decorative black textile badge featuring an intricately embroidered depiction of the ship and gold-colored lettering. - **“Frigate Emden” cap band:** Black naval cap band with gold-colored lettering, referring to the later Federal Navy. - Historical photograph of the light cruiser “Emden,” showing the ship in full side view. - Original naval ship postmark as well as two postmarked stamps from the German Empire. - Supplementary labels with biographical details about the naval officers and historical information about the cruiser. - The various cap bands and textile memorabilia may date from different eras of German naval history. - There is no evidence that the cap bands belonged personally to the naval officers mentioned. It is possible that the memorabilia were assembled at a later date. - All objects are arranged decoratively and presented behind glass in a reddish-brown wooden frame. - The authenticity of the signatures has not been independently verified. An extraordinary collection documenting the history of the light cruiser “Emden” and its naval officers. Of particular interest is the combination of historical handwritten autographs, contemporary ship photography, various naval cap bands, and philatelic memorabilia. The collection documents various periods of German naval history and brings together memorabilia from the Imperial Navy, the Kriegsmarine, and the Federal Navy in a representative ensemble. An interesting collector’s item for enthusiasts of German naval history, historical autographs, militaria, and maritime memorabilia.
