6033 - Oil on canvas, Osmanov A. O., “Gray Centuries,” 1998

Oil on canvas, Osmanov A. O., “Gray Centuries,” 1998 An atmospheric Central Asian landscape painting in oil on canvas. The painting depicts two historic, dome-topped structures—presumably Islamic mausoleums or burial sites—set amid a vast, barren mountainous landscape. The architecture is reminiscent of traditional Central Asian mausoleums, particularly those from the Uzbek or Turkestan cultural regions. Such monumental funerary structures often served as final resting places for prominent religious figures or rulers. To date, it has not been possible to definitively identify the depicted structures or their location. The composition captivates with its warm ochre tones, sand-colored mountain formations, and an intensely blue sky. The impasto painting style and harmonious color scheme lend the painting a special atmospheric effect. Handwritten on the reverse in Cyrillic script: - Artist’s signature: “Османов А. О.” (Osmanov A. O.), subject to verification - Title: “Седые века” (Gray Centuries) - Medium: Oil on canvas - Date: 1998 Despite research, the artist named on the reverse has not yet been definitively identified. The painting is set in a silver plated wooden frame. Dimensions: Canvas approx. 54 × 74 cm.
