Magnificent Oriental hip ornament, a traditional decorative pouch with an elaborate bell pendant and colorful fabric work, silver-plated Exceptionally elaborately crafted, traditional hip ornament in the form of a decorative fabric pouch with rich metal pendants, presumably from the Afghan or Central Asian cultural region. Stylistically likely 20th century. The crescent-shaped ornament consists of a colorful fabric base that is entirely adorned on the front with numerous silver-plated decorative elements. An upper row of rectangular, relief-decorated metal plates with three-dimensional spherical appliqués forms the top edge. Beneath this is a particularly dense, multi-row pendant consisting of movable chain links, elongated teardrop-shaped elements, ornately designed metal plates, and numerous spherical bells. The textile back consists of fabric panels with varying patterns in pink, green, and other bold hues, featuring floral and geometric motifs. The piece was likely worn around the hips as a decorative component of traditional folk costumes.
