[MANUSCRIPT] [Beast of Gévaudan] XXX [MAGNE De MAROLLES] “A Historical Account of the Ravages Wrought by the Fierce Beast That Devastated Gévaudan and Auvergne for So Long. Of the driven hunts that were conducted and the various methods attempted to destroy it from its first appearance in June 1764 until its capture by Mr. Antoine, hunting lieutenant and arquebus bearer to His Majesty, on September 2, 1765.” Contemporary autograph manuscript, quarto format, 28 pages (likely a copy, which explains the uniformity of the handwriting from beginning to end), in a semi-rigid cover bound in contemporary combed paper [pending a better solution]. Certified copy of the manuscript held by the BNF* (included in the artificial collection of documents relating to the Beast of Gévaudan compiled by the author in 1765) Crease on the front cover; the text block is unbound and separated from the cover, though despite these minor flaws, this is an extremely rare copy in excellent condition. *RES 4-LK2-786.
