[Flanders] ORTELIUS Flandriae comitatus descriptio. Map (text in Latin) dated 1590, fully watercolored (based on Mercator’s manuscript map), with a small inset depicting ancient Walcheren and Zeelandic Flanders during the time of Guy de Dampierre, Count of Flanders, in the 13th century, text in Italian on the reverse with an embellished initial. Central fold, micro-tear at the bottom of the same fold (in the margin); otherwise in excellent condition. Dimensions: 43.7 x 5 cm. Flandriae pars occidentalis (…). Amstelodami, H. Hondius, undated (circa 1630), map of the coastline from Calais to Nieuwpoort, partially highlighted in color and adorned with a cartouche; text in French on the reverse. Widespread foxing, otherwise a good copy. Dimensions: 50.5 x 58 cm. Included: Rizzi Zannoni A map of Flanders “dedicated and presented to His Excellency Monsignor J.D. Tiepolo, Ambassador Extraordinary for the Most Serene Republic of Venice” Undated map (18th century); outlines highlighted. Tears along the fold (lower margin).
