Dark Blue Sarough Persia, ca. 1920. Wool on cotton, plant-based dyes, approx. 305 cm x 388 cm. The dark blue central field is covered with a dense, finely detailed floral scrollwork featuring blossoms, palmettes, and curving leaf forms in ivory, rose, ochre, and light blue. A light blue, florally designed central medallion provides a striking accent within the intricate ornamentation. The wide, also dark blue main border is decorated with lush tendrils and stylized floral motifs. In good condition. Shows signs of age and wear. The fringes are intact.
