Six Aluminum Group Chairs Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller/USA Design: Charles & Ray Eames, 1958 Manufacturer: Herman Miller, USA Model: Aluminum Group Side Chair / Eames Aluminum Group 1960s–1970s. Aluminum, chrome-plated or polished. Fabric upholstery in bold pink/magenta. Four-star base. Underside features a manufacturer’s label reading “Herman Miller Collection – Designer Charles Eames” as well as embossed model and production numbers. Signs of age and wear. Upholstery is partially stained or shows signs of wear. Metal surfaces are scuffed and oxidized in places. An iconic design by Charles & Ray Eames from the famous Aluminum Group, which was developed in the late 1950s and is now considered a classic of American mid-century design. The exceptionally slender construction does away with a conventional seat shell: The upholstery is stretched between the side aluminum profiles, forming a seamless unit comprising the seat and backrest. The horizontal pattern of the bright pink fabric upholstery emphasizes the elegant lines. On a characteristic four-star base. Six pieces.
