Horst Antes 1936 Heppenheim - "The Warrior" - (1975) Color lithograph on paper. 91/100. 69.4 x 51.1 cm, 77 x 56 cm. 86 x 66 cm (dimensions including frame). Signed lower right: Antes. Drystamp lower left: galerie schmücking. Framed under glass, fully visible. - Lit.: Lutze 753. - Gallery invoice (Galerie Brusberg, Hanover) from 1984 is included. - Included: Bernd Lutze. Horst Antes. Catalog Raisonné of Lithographs. Stuttgart 1976 (with three lithographs bound into the book). Antes studied under HAP Grieshaber in Karlsruhe and served as a professor at the local art academy beginning in 1967. The central theme of his work is the “cephalopod” human, a dwarf-like creature depicted in profile with its enormous head. With this motif, he turned to a new form of figurative painting in the early 1960s.
