LEA STEIN - Four Vintage Brooches with Fox Motifs Designed by Lea Stein, 1960s through 1980s. Cellulose acetate (Rhodoid), mother-of-pearl. Silver plated metal clasp. Weight: 37 g. Dimensions: approx. 9.5 x 5 cm and 9.5 x 4.5 cm. Signed on all pieces: LEA STEIN PARIS. Condition: Good condition. Lea Stein is a French designer best known for her colorful, graphic costume jewelry brooches. Her brooches consist of many thin layers—sometimes as many as 50—that are fused together in a lengthy lamination process. Materials incorporated for texture and effects—such as lace, brocade, fabric, metal, mother-of-pearl, and other decorative elements—are often embedded between the layers to create iridescent, snakeskin-like, mosaic-like, or tortoiseshell-like effects.
