Mirror; Venice, ca. 1970. Cut glass. Measurements: 99 x 53 x 3 cm. Venetian wall mirror, made around 1970, notable for its frame of cut and engraved glass featuring delicate floral and plant motifs. Rectangular in shape, it features a meticulous ornamental composition that runs along the entire perimeter, culminating in a sinuous upper finial, also decorated with floral motifs, which lends the piece a sense of verticality and a pronounced decorative character. The transparency of the glass, combined with the precision of the engraving and the play of light on the surfaces, lends the piece a remarkable visual lightness and a luminous elegance. Its design evokes the Venetian glassmaking tradition, renowned since the Renaissance for the mastery of its artisans and for the creation of mirrors in which the glass itself becomes an ornamental element.
