Shinoda, Toko "Spring" Lithograph on vellum. 1968. 48 x 36.5 cm (65 x 50 cm). Signed "Toko Shinoda," dated, titled, and marked "A(rtist's)P(roof)." In her work, Shinoda creates a synthesis of traditional Japanese calligraphy and influences from Western Abstract Expressionism. She plays with empty space as an active part of the composition. Since the 1960s, Toko Shinoda has created lithographs, collaborating with the printer Kihachi Kimura until 2007.
