Lüttwitz, Lidy von Abstract Figure Bronze with a dark brown patina. Circa 1970. 15.5 x 24.5 x 8 cm. Monogrammed "LL" on the base. In nearly all of her sculptures, the artist—who has been almost completely deaf since childhood—conceals an eye that serves as a connection between the inner and outer worlds for her. In this bronze piece, Lidy von Lüttwitz forms a hand with two eyes, two propped-up arms, and one leg extended. Using rounded, soft forms and austere lines, she develops a sophisticated abstract composition, which she gives rhythm through dynamic divisions and vistas. A finely detailed cast with a magnificently iridescent patina. Provenance: Private collection, Southern Germany - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
