Hennig, Albert Walker in a Rural Landscape Watercolor on vellum. 1975. 22.5 x 29 cm. Signed "Hennig" in pencil and dated in the lower left corner. Albert Hennig, who studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau and Berlin in 1932–33, had originally trained as a concrete worker. Following conflicts with cultural policy in the GDR, he returned to this profession in 1952. It was not until 1972 that he was able to devote himself entirely to art in Zwickau. Our watercolor, created in 1975 and characterized by its loose use of color, dates from this new phase of his artistic career.
