Georgi, Nikolaus von "Wellenraum" Acrylic on canvas. 1972. 40 x 60 cm. Signed "V. GEORGI" in brown with a fiber-tip pen on the reverse, dated, and titled in black; also titled again on the stretcher bar. An early work by the artist, known for his "spatial paintings" and abstract compositions. Georgi, who trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Ernst Geitlinger, increasingly abstracted his formal language over the course of his career and, in this work as well, limits himself to a restrained palette of subtly nuanced shades of blue. “As an artist of the second half of the 20th century, von Georgi contributed to the development of abstract art in Germany.
