8179 - Brodwolf, Jürgen

Brodwolf, Jürgen Tube Figure Multiple. Metal tube figure in a slit piece of cardboard dipped in wax, mounted in a wooden display case. 1996. 30.5 x 22 cm (cardboard). Signed “Brodwolf” in pencil at the bottom center of the cardboard and dated; signed again on the reverse. Edition of 8 numbered copies. Brodwolf began incorporating the tube figure—created from squeezed-out, peculiarly deformed paint tubes—into his object paintings starting in 1975. “In this tube figure, I recognized a strong kinship with the figurative relics of my childhood, and thus the rediscovery of my true identity and my own language. Anyone who dismisses this artistic figure as merely an artistic trademark overlooks its archetypal, idol-like nature and the phenomenon of its constant adaptability, which has yielded ever-new figure types and evolutions for 52 years.” (Jürgen Brodwolf, 2017, in: juergenbrodwolf.com, accessed July 20, 2026). - We ask that you request condition reports for the lots, as the condition is listed in the catalog only in exceptional cases. - Please ask for condition reports for individual lots, as the condition is usually not mentioned in the catalog.
