Edward Wolfe RA, South African/British 1897-1982 - Ronda Valley; oil on canvas board, signed in pencil lower right 'Wolfe', 37.5 x 50.5 cm (ARR) Provenance: with O'Hana Gallery, London, stock no.X43 (according to the label attached to the reverse); with James O'Connor, London (according to the unidentified gallery label attached to the reverse); Private Collection Note: Edward Wolfe was invited by Nina Hamnett to work with Roger Fry's Omega Workshop during the latter stages of the First World War and worked with Duncan Grant to decorate the dividing doors in the first floor sitting room at 46 Gordon Square when Maynard Keynes had control of the house. He became closely associated with the Bloomsbury Group and his works are now in all major UK museums including Manchester Art Gallery, the National Galleries of Scotland and the Tate.
