Rafael Díaz Portrait of a Man (Yves Guérin), 2005 Brush and ink (wash) Dedicated, signed, dated, and located by hand, bottom center/left: “para Yves Guérin, amistosamente, Rafael Díaz,” signed “DIAZ,” “Paris, 12/11/05” Dimensions: Sheet 29.7 × 21 cm (11 ⅝ × 8 ¼ in.) — Image: full sheet Condition: good condition, unframed Provenance: Yves Guérin’s guestbook (from a single collection). This sheet is dated Paris, December 11, 2005, extending the album well beyond its core period of 1963–1992. Description: A vigorous portrait in brush and ink of an elderly man, shown from the waist up in a jacket and tie, his head tilted back, rendered in broad, gestural strokes of black wash on the bare paper—a spontaneous, Expressionist likeness (perhaps a portrait of the collector himself; to be confirmed). Signed and inscribed by hand.
