Füger,” inscribed in the center with: “Klopstock’s Messiah, Fifth Canto,” and signed on the right with “Engraved by J. F. Leybold.” Date: 19th century Description: Jesus on the Mount of Olives with angels and a chalice. He kneels before the angel with a pleading gesture. The illustration depicts a scene from the fifth canto of the heroic poem by Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock, an epic in 20 cantos, from the year 1773.
