Drevet sculpsit". At the lower part inscribed in the printing plate: "THOMAS FAIRFAX General du Parlement.". Date: c. 1720 Description: The portrait of Thomas Fairfax (1612-1671) shows him in a cuirass. His office as general and commander-in-chief of the parliamentary army during the English Civil War is reflected in the decorative frame by the baton on the right and a sword on the left.
