Inscription: Signed in the lower part of the printing plate: “Car. Ianssens pinxit. C. Waumans sculpsit. I. Meyssens excudit.” Inscribed in the lower part of the printing plate: “ADRIAN VAN NIEULANT”. Date: 17th century Description: A portrait of the painter Adrian van Nieulant, depicted in a three-quarter view from the left. The elderly man is wearing a loose-fitting cloak with a wide white turn-down collar, a small dark cap on the back of his head, and a mustache and goatee. His hands are clasped in front of his body, and his gaze is directed slightly to the side. The background is rendered using delicate cross-hatching, suggesting the back of a chair on the right. The image is framed within a rectangular plate mark; below it is a multi-line French inscription containing the number, name, and biographical details, as well as the engraver’s and publisher’s marks. This work is believed to originate from the anthology *Het Gulden Cabinet*, which contained a large number of artists’ portraits.
