K. GIER (b. 1954), Abstract art featuring a square and Roman numerals, circa 2000, mixed media Karin Gier (born 1954 in Düsseldorf): Abstract work with a central square framed by Roman numerals, circa 2000, mixed media Technique: Mixed media on wood Date: c. 2000 Description: The artwork presents a complex arrangement of shapes and textures structured by framed compositions. A frame of Roman numerals surrounds the image, suggesting a temporal aspect or historical reference. In the center is a rectangular area with layered white paper that imitates a weathered surface and could thus symbolize transience or memories. The colors were presumably washed out afterward, which reinforces the impression of wear, aging, and weathering. The warm, earthy tones emphasize the antique feel of the work and lend it a timeless atmosphere.
