7337 - Haase, Volkmar

Haase, Volkmar Wave with Sphere Stainless steel on a steel plinth, mounted on a black granite base with a blackened iron foot. Approx. 28.5 x 53 x 48 cm. Signed “HAASE” on the plinth and signed again at all four corners of the base. Volkmar Haase’s abstract sculptures are characterized in particular by the tension between static form and apparent movement. A characteristic feature is the concentration of the entire weight on a single point, which gives the sculptures a dance-like lightness and weightlessness despite their solid materiality. The contrast between the form at rest and its apparent movement describes a central theme in Haase’s sculptural work. As stated on his website, this contrast has occupied him “unconsciously throughout his life” (cited from volkmarhaase.de, accessed September 23, 2026). Total height with base: 111 cm.
