Molnár, Vera Untitled Plotter drawing on printer paper. 1975. 47 x 36 cm. Monogrammed "M" and dated in pencil in the lower right corner. In her art, Molnár explored “what happens to a geometric form when one of its characteristics is minimally altered.” To this end, she began using her ‘machine imaginaire’ in 1959. With the help of this imaginary machine, she calculated her compositions step by step—in her head. In 1968, Molnár was able to work with a computer for the first time.” (kunstmuseumbasel.ch, accessed September 15, 2026). With her constructivist-concrete works, she is regarded as a significant pioneer of computer art and generative art. In 1976, her first solo exhibition took place at the London Polytechnic Gallery, and she was featured in international exhibitions at venues including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum Haus Konstruktiv in Zurich, and MoMA in New York.
