Trökes, Heinz "Gone with the Wind" Oil on canvas, 1959. 50 x 71.3 cm. Signed “Trökes” in black paint on the lower right and dated; signed “Heinz Trökes” again on the reverse in black marker, dated, and titled. Krause 517. Painted in Ibiza in March 1959, this work belongs to a group of paintings in which Trökes translates his impressions of the island into abstract structures. Against the light, blue-gray background, colorful forms, lines, and marks coalesce into a dynamic composition that sweeps across the canvas as if caught by the wind. The poetic title “Blown Away by the Wind” describes not so much a specific motif as the fleeting, dynamic character of the painting. The precise dates of creation, which Trökes frequently noted on the backs of his paintings, allow us to trace the intensive sequence of his works created in Ibiza almost day by day. In March 1959 alone, he created nine paintings; our painting is dated March 13.
