Sintenis, Renée Sleeping Shetland Pony Bronze with a reddish-golden-brown patina. 1939. Approx. 5.4 x 12.5 x 4.5 cm. Monogrammed “RS” at the base of the tail on the left rear, and bearing the foundry mark “NOACK BERLIN” on the side of the right hind leg. Berger/Ladwig/Wenzel-Lent 167, Buhlmann 170. In a sleeping pose, with its head and eyes turned toward the ground, the little Shetland pony lies there calmly and peacefully. A magnificent, finely detailed cast with a wonderfully iridescent patina. Sintenis has rendered many details—particularly the mane and tail—with great charm and precision.
