Kokoschka, Oskar Soldiers Looting Red colored chalk on lightly tinted vellum. 1917. 41 x 32 cm. Monogrammed “OK” in red colored chalk in the lower right corner, dated and inscribed “Summer 17”; dated and inscribed in pencil along the lower edge of the image (by another hand?). This study was likely created in connection with Kokoschka’s cycle “Völkerfrieden” (“Peace Among Nations”), which was planned as a portfolio of prints but never realized.
