Liebermann, Max The Concert Drypoint on heavy copperplate paper. 1922. 23.5 x 31 cm (36.3 x 46.8 cm). Signed "MLiebermann" and numbered "II/2". Schiefler 344 II (of III d). One of only two prints of the second state mentioned by Schiefler, already featuring the shadowed areas in the foreground figures and the clearly visible figure of the conductor, with the still easily recognizable horizontal lines above the audience and the orchestra, prior to the revision of the conductor’s head and the caryatid. Liebermann’s state prints exemplify the artist’s creative process. A magnificent, deep-dark, grainy print with velvety blacks, deeply embossed facets, and a wide margin.
