SOULLIER (Charles). LA CASTRONOMIE OU LE NOUVEL ABEILARD. Paris, Baudmont, 1834. In-12 format, [4]-173-[1] pages, green half-percale, covers preserved (contemporary binding). FIRST EDITION, illustrated with 6 lithographs by Kappelin as inserts. A heroic-comic poem divided into six cantos, recounting the epic tale of a capon. The first four cantos are devoted to his story; in the fifth, we discover the Island of Gluttony, inhabited by Lord Pudding; and finally, the sixth recounts the hero’s tragic end, as he is devoured in Lyon… A fine copy.
