Paris, Guillaume Desprez, 1664. 2 parts bound in 1 in-12 volume of [64]-64-60 pages, green morocco leather, gold fillet framing the covers, gold roulette on the inside, smooth decorated spine, speckled edges (late 18th-century binding). A rare FIRST EDITION of this fierce indictment of the bean-drawing and the Epiphany drinking binges. The author vehemently opposes these ceremonies and explores ways to reform and abolish the festivities and feasts associated with this holiday. Added dry stamp (Noirefontaine family?) and handwritten bookplate on the title page. Minor flaws; otherwise a good copy.
