George Hakim was originally a visionary jeweler whose story began in Mardin, within a family of silversmiths specializing in silver. In 1875, at just 17 years old, he opened his first stall in the gold souk of Constantinople, where his talent quickly earned him great renown. He later expanded his business to Aleppo, paving the way for the growth of the Hakim House. In 1939, his son Elias moved the business to Beirut, which became the heart of the jewelry house, and in 1948, George Hakim II, the founder’s grandson, joined the company and carried on the family tradition. Passionate about precious stones, he traveled the world in search of the rarest gems. The house remains, above all, a family business; in 1991, the fourth generation joined the firm, bringing gemological expertise, innovation, and an international vision. In 2013, Maison George Hakim opened its first boutique in Geneva and counts among its clients the elite of the Gulf’s royal families.
