Neue Görlitzer Camera-Werke | Stella – Studio Camera 16 × 16 cm Estimate: €1,200–1,400 Year: c. 1935 Condition: B/A English: An impressive and beautifully constructed German professional studio camera manufactured by Neue Görlitzer Camera-Werke, Görlitz, founded by Robert Reinsch in 1920. The camera is mounted on its substantial original wooden studio stand with twin vertical supports, a large metal handwheel for precise height adjustment, and a foot-operated mechanism (focusing screen is missing). The finely crafted wooden camera body features extensive mechanical adjustments, nickel-plated fittings, large black bellows, and a square 16 × 16 cm ground-glass format. It is fitted with an impressive Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 1:4.5/360mm lens, no. 1765491, in a black finish—an unusually long focal length for this camera format. The Stella was among the most sophisticated German wooden studio cameras of its era and became the technical predecessor of the later Pentacon Globica series.
