Franke & Heidecke | Baby Rolleidoscop First Version Estimate: €1,800–2,200 Year: 1927 Serial No.: 11491 Condition: A- English: One of the earliest cameras produced, fitted with its original matching pair of consecutively numbered Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 4.5/5.5 cm lenses, nos. 688507 and 688508. An exceptionally early example of the Baby Rolleidoscop, introduced by Franke & Heidecke in 1927 for 127 roll film. Particularly remarkable is the fact that a contemporary Franke & Heidecke advertising illustration reproduced in the literature shows an almost identical camera bearing serial no. 11481—only ten numbers earlier than the present example. This provides especially convincing evidence that no. 11491 belongs to the very first production series. The camera is preserved in virtually mint condition, complete with the three original lens caps attached by cords and the original leather case. According to published production figures, only 391 Baby Rolleidoscop cameras were manufactured across all versions, with the first version accounting for only a small proportion of total production.
