Ernemann | Ermanox Twin Sports Camera 'F. Schröter, Leipzig' Estimate: €4,000–5,000 Year: c. 1925 Condition: C English: An extraordinary and unique twin-camera assembly consisting of two Ermanox cameras mounted together and mechanically coupled for simultaneous exposure. One camera is fitted with an Ernostar 1:1.8 f=8.5 cm, no. 167685, and the second with an Ernostar 1:2 f=10 cm, no. 151057. The differing focal lengths indicate that the apparatus was designed to capture the same moment simultaneously with two different fields of view, most likely for sports or press photography. The shutters and focusing mechanisms are linked by an external mechanical coupling for synchronized release and focusing. According to the documentation of the Deutsches Fotomuseum in Markkleeberg, this special construction was carried out by F. Schröter of Leipzig. The heavy patina indicates that this unique camera was used professionally for many years. See “Historische Kameras der DDR” by Langner & Kleffe, 1989. Provenance: Deutsches Fotomuseum, Markkleeberg.
