Hasselblad | Lunar Surface Super Wide Camera Estimate: €18,000–22,000 Year: 1968 Serial No.: TRW 8589 Condition: A- English: In the spring of 1967, their strong partnership led NASA and Hasselblad to build a Super Wide camera that would be used to take photographs on the Moon. The result was a black SWC equipped with a large-frame viewfinder, a stronger shutter and a larger shutter release button, a large film winder, a magazine catch, and a lightweight magazine modified to hold 200 exposures on 70 mm perforated film. Despite these sophisticated modifications, the lunar SWC project was ultimately abandoned. Based on feedback from astronauts, NASA selected the motorized Hasselblad 500 EL, which proved easier to operate on the Moon’s surface, where bulky spacesuits significantly restricted movement. Only about 25 SWC Lunar Surface models were ever produced. The camera offered here is in mint condition and in perfect working order, featuring a Biogon 4.5/38mm lens (no. 4241538) with flawless optics and a special ultra-light 70mm Lunar Mission magazine (no. UV400525 (NASA part number P/N SEB 33100082-S/N 893) German: In the spring of 1967, close collaboration between NASA and Hasselblad led to the development of a Super Wide camera for photographic work on the Moon.
